Tip: Leave the rake in the shed this spring

Mulching, composting take less effort, offer more benefits for your landscape
Before you pull out the rake and yard bags this fall, consider saving the effort and the environment by mulching or composting your leaves.

Mowing your leaves instead of bagging them keeps waste out of the landfill and helps keep your lawn healthy.

By going a step further and composting your leaves, you supply your yard with natural fertilizer year round.

To learn more about composting, attend the Compost Outpost, held from 9-11 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. For those looking to take composting to the next level, Master Composter classes also will be offered Nov. 7 and 14. Master Composter participants will receive a free compost bin.
